The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian
Did you know that The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian was one of the top ten most frequently challenged books of 2014 in the US?
It was pulled from the Meridian (ID) high school supplemental reading list, challenged at the Cedar Grove Middle School in Wilmington (NC) and suspended from the Highland Park, (TX) Independent School District's approved book list by the school superintendent.
Reasons: anti-family, cultural insensitivity, drugs/alcohol/smoking, gambling, offensive language, sex education, sexually explicit, unsuited for age group, violence. Additional reasons: “depictions of bullying”
